Eagle College Prep
HOLY CROSS LUTHERAN CHURCH, ST. LOUIS
Lutheran Development Group came alongside Holy Cross Lutheran and helped the church turn its old school building into a new home for Eagle College Prep, a high-performing charter school with several other
St. Louis locations. The previously underused building reopened in Fall 2017 and now provides an additional educational resource to families in Holy Cross's Gravois Park neighborhood.
Background
Lutheran Development Group (LDG) helped Holy Cross Lutheran Church give its former elementary school building new life as a neighborhood charter school, Eagle College Prep Gravois Park.
Although the church no longer operated an elementary school, the church's Gravois Park neighborhood had a high youth population and a need for greater educational opportunity. LDG worked with Holy Cross to provide the financing, development, and design expertise to renovate the historic school building, transforming it into a 21st Century educational facility.
Eagle College Prep started as a free K-4 school for neighborhood families, and will eventually grow to a K-8 facility.
In addition to the regular curriculum, students will also have access to an innovative arts program at the nearby Intersect Arts Center.
Through LDG's assistance and expertise, not only has a new school building been renovated, but the Holy Cross congregation has used its resources to provide greater opportunity for its neighbors.
