MESSIAH LUTHERAN, ST. LOUIS
An affordable housing collaboration between Messiah Lutheran Church and LDG, with support from Rise Community Development.
Background
Lutheran Development Group (LDG) approached Rise Community Development to bring safe and affordable housing to Tower Grove East and Fox Park neighborhoods that border Messiah Lutheran Church.
This partnership grew into East Fox Homes, a collaboration between Messiah Lutheran, Rise, community partners, and LDG to renovate deteriorating buildings, revitalize struggling parts of the neighborhood, and provide and maintain affordable housing.
Through the combined efforts of Messiah, LDG, and consultant Rise Community Development, East Fox Homes became an $11.7 million historic renovation of 12 buildings with 47 apartments in the Tower Grove East and Fox Park neighborhoods of St. Louis.
In addition to housing units, the East Fox Homes project includes the Messiah Community Center located at 2801 Magnolia. The renovation of this building turned one of the most distressed buildings in the neighborhood into an asset for the entire community.
It is through East Fox Homes that LDG was formed, creating an organization dedicated to affordable housing and community development near our city's churches. LDG has invested more than $35 million in south city, St. Louis.
